One of the things that has a habit of getting forgot is the inspections. I like to inspect everything about once a month. Just to be safe. I go through and check all my plumbing, pumps, lighting, and electrical stuff. I just wanted to share what I found in this months inspection. Now this was a new power strip les than two months ago. If I had not unplugged stuff I would never have found this. Better safe than sorry, Shaun

This was hidden under a power supply for the led moon lights.

Great reminder Shaun! I do this exact thing, in fact I just finished about 20 min. ago----everything was fine.
Good thing you caught this, one of my biggest fears is fire, so I'm pretty anal when it comes to these type of things.

    All should take your advice!

Good reminder. Thank you Shaun! I've had similar things happen, usually as a result of saltwater splash or drip. It's also a good reminder to make sure that you have drip loops, keep your power strips off the floor whenever possible, and make sure not to exceed the rating on the power strip. Some of the less expensive power strips are not rated to run things like a pair of 400W metal halide lamps or something. Make sure that you're operating it within the specified running capacity. Not sure how to check this? Get a Kill-a-watt. They can tell you exactly how much juice is going thru your power strip or how much a particular device is taking for power consumption comparisons (i.e. MH lights vs LEDs). They run around $20 online and are a good investment.
