Rainbow Montipora turns all red

    This is my second one of these and it is the second time this has happened. I end up with a solid red monti. Anyone have some tips too keeping them colored up?

    Like all red polyps with a blue base or just all red base and polyps ??

    all the poylps are red. the base is not as blue as it used to be.This is the exact one I own.

    I always had better luck with the rainbows at alittle above mid tank. But there a picky coral

    Yeah I just moved it up to about 220 par up from 170ish

    What lighting do you have it under, and what was it under when it was colored up?

    I have it under 2 AI modules. At ACC they were under 400 watt MH

    Mine does the something. So we will do an experiment to determine which lighting requirement it really takes. Mine is midway 12" under a AI sol. So I'll move mine down u move urs up we will see which one colors back up lol

    sounds like plan. I just moved mine up but you say 12 inch below a AI, my AI are 12 inch above my tank.

    My AIs are 8" above my tank and it is half way down in a 24" tank I'll move it down when I get back from Vancouver

    I have also noticed if your alk levels fluctuate or your phos levels rise it really effects the colors of corals
