I've been gone for almost 3 months and decided to hope back on to the forum and re-learn the hobby and find out what new thigns are happening now.

I am borrow a friends 90 gallon tank next weekend to move my remaining three fish (sail fin, purple tang, and koran angel) to while I deep clean the 135. Scrub the walls of the glass and power heads clean. Also plan to blast my live rock to remove all of the chano from the rock and tank.

I also plan to redo all of my plumbing. All of it will be 2" instead of 2" to 1" for returns.

Travis G, Troy, and I all helped AJ move some stuff into a moving truck today and ww got some parts. Best thing I am loving so far is a tie between the big sump tubs and this giant skimmer.

This will be my rebuild thread for this process. I'll upload pics later. Also does anyone want a 10 gallon tank? I have 4 I am not sure what to do with yet.

Crap wrong forum. Suppose to be in general hobby.
I havr 2 power heads from Big D that do 1500gph so flow is fine.
Buying an SPS kit from aquastyle.com for $300.
2 of the 10 gallon tanks broke on me so I have 2 sitting around.
Not sure if I am keeping the big pond like tanks yet buy will keep people posted.

    Moved the thread for you.

If I remember right you weren't lacking much on flow before, you just didn't have any decent lighting and a cyano problem.

    what kit are you getting?

I'd keep it as simple as possible or you'll have the same issues as last time. Concentrate on nutrient control and keeping some stability to the parameters.

Also whats your plans with the plumbing? I don't remember what you had going on there, but I remember you had a big *** pump that was overpowering the drains. I'd concentrate more on getting the tank flow from internal powerheads and slow the sump/return flow down big time.

If you want some help with this project, let me know. I'm not that far away from you.

Was looking at 120 LEDs split into 3 groups of 40 per section doing 50/50 royal blue and soft white.
Flow is easy for me. If I keep the big tubs I was going to T it off twice. Once for my giant skimmer and the 2nd for a frag tank.
Still in planning stage. Plan to build a new stand for better stability and to hide plumbing.
Thought about seeing how hard it would be to increase the size of my drain holes from 1" to 1.5" or even a flat 2". I really need to build my drain correctly too.
I have one mangrove left but thinking about getting the right lighting and trying them again.
Corals are a year or three out before I even attempt it again.
I really want a Reef Angel to help control my tank better. Cheaper than Apex with the same add ons. If you know Andrino programming you can do a lot with it.
May need to enlist some help when I start building. Moving the tank is a bit of a pain. Just not as bad as Kyle's 220 lol

the 50/50 mix is kind of losing ground in the LED world. Will it grow corals, yes. Does it give you the best eye pleasing coloration, absolutely not. I'd look at adding some violets, reds and greens in there. It doesn't take much but it makes a big difference. And would be easier to add initially than to try and fit them in later.

2x 1" drains is plenty of flow through a sump and return on a 135. I only have 1" drains on my 250 gallon tank and I get more than enough flow out of them. I've never tried it, but i've heard its asking for problems trying to enlarge holes in glass like that. You just need to match the return flow to what the plumbing can handle. I'd split your return pump off to feed a frag tank, algae scrubber, reactors, and valve it back as necessary.

Hmm will look into the additional colors for LEDs.
I am planninh a frag tank so will T off my return pump for it and also my giant skimmer to try and hold back some flow from my DT returns.

    Nice. should do the trick.
I've got about the same thing sitting in the back room, its just not modded to recirculate and it needs a new pump. Haven't used it, but everything i've read says they are/or at least were very good skimmers.

I need to find a feed pump or figure out if I can T off my return for it or not. Stands a little over 3 foot tall! Talk about over skimming lol

If you still have the big return pump it will be plenty to feed that skimmer as well as returns and then some. Just put a decent valve on it so you have fine control of the flow to the skimmer.

If you want some ideas, you are welcome to stop over and check out my system. I have made a few changes since the last time you saw it.

That's my old skimmer from my 150gal. Its modded with larger diameter piping, custom verturi, and a sicce pump. Its a low power consumption beast. I spent a lot of time optimizing this skimmer. You will need a bucket for this thing to drain into.

I was about to put out an APB for the owner of this beast! I was going to plumb the cup drain to the washer drain lol. Finally got some more specs on it. Trying to figure out how it all works but I got some time yet.
