Thinking about switching from my apex jr to a Reef Angel. Does anyone use these? What are the pros cons of these controllers. They seem like a pretty economical solution and are really customizable. Thanks

Recommend checking with @Kungpaoshizi@Kungpaoshizi. There is a post in the Another Apex Emergency! thread addressing that subject.

I'm finally getting back into controllers after life happens. Have a Reef Angel and an Apex Jr, neither of which has been used for a long time. Will follow this thread to see how

I've got one, pretty decent Imo. I had the apex gold, 1800$ worth of stuff. I continually inquired about features that were 'coming soon'. Then one day after finally saying Neptune was lying for 2 years to me, Terrence offered me a full refund so I took it.

Anyways, I spent a fraction of that money on the Reef Angel. It's been up and running for about 1.5 yrs and I've had 2 issues? First issue was I couldn't get the dang portal integration to work because the port forwarding instructions are slim. 2nd issue was after moving and having a new net provider I had to wipe my router and I forgot what everything was set to. :D
I guess that's not really the RA's problem.

I very much enjoy the mechanical switches as well in the outlet box vs the Triacs in the Apex. I needed 15 for <10 watt items, so that alone was a stupid cost with the Apex since you have to buy the other outlet boxes.

Hardest part is setup because it takes a bit of reading and Arduino-type work. Though if you just follow the instructions and take a bit of extra time it's not so bad. I do IT but was pretty cautious since it doesn't have as dumb an interface for setup as the apex, but Roberto the creator has done such a good job on the user manuals I really have only had a couple questions.

Otherwise it just works. In the 2 years I had the apex I was constantly having network issues, GUI problems, conductivity probe issues, and half the crap had to be entered via the old interface and half with the new. I bought it originally because of their advertisements of the Fusion interface, which I only found out after buying, wasn't complete and probably still doesn't have all of the functionality transferred from the classic interface. And that was aside from the basic functions on some Ecotech products the wxm never supported, but of course they don't include that in the advertising either.

Sorry for the anti-Neptune tidbits, but aside from Terrence "ending my pain and suffering with the apex" (his words), Neptune tried to have my negative reviews silenced on reef2reef. I know the difference between slander, libel, and a negative review.

Otherwise the experience between the apex and reef angel has been night and day. Also, I don't think anyone can say it about any other controller company I'm aware of, but Roberto has responded to inquiries/problems even on a holiday. No joke.
