Not trying to stir the pot on this topic guys but I know nothing about either. Reef Angel comes with everything I'm looking for for about half the price. It was brought to my attention that it comes with a top off which I don't have. Also a temp prob and ph. I was about to buy a JBJ auto top off. I do know alot of guys here have the Apex. What's the difference in these 2?

If it comes with everything you will ever want and need, then you found what you need. I think the biggest thing on a controller is having a knowledge base behind it. I haven't looked much into the RA, but I believe they have excellent forums and support behind them.
I chose the apex because it was proven, reliable from what I had read, and I was able to easily find tons of support and information for them.

Sad, it used to be my "goto" link whenever this question came up.

IMO, "specs" don't tell the whole story. It's a lot like iPhone vs Android. Overall, they are very similar, but one platform focuses on price/specs/openness, the other focuses on a unified experience/ecosystem.

You have to take all of these things into account to pick the controller that's right for you.

I'd pick Apex, but ecosystem/experience is more important to me than price/specs/openness.

Also, I don't trust open source software on my phone, nor would I trust it on my controller. That's not to say that there's not great open source stuff out there, I'd just rather not take the chance.
