They can't jump through the netting, or at least that I have seen. The ones I lost jumped when I had the lids off or found the gap in the top that I used to have where a sea swirl went over the edge. Always make it a habit to check the floor after having tops off. I've rescued them more times than I care to remember. Even had them jump and bounce off me before hitting the floor, had 2 jump at once. Sneaky little guys, and its pretty impressive just how far out of the water they can launch themselves.

Exquisite wrasse is a great wrasse. Not too pricy, lots of color and has good tank manners IMO

How big is your exquisite wrasse? They are very pretty. I've read that they can reach 5", which is larger than I want for my tank.

Mine is about 4" if you remember the size of mine. Also, remember that 'some' fish will not necessarily get as large as stated because of being in a tank vs' in the wild :0)

Mine is probably close to 5inches but I bought him large. I've only had him 2 weeks

Pretty wrasse.... I keep going back and forth between the Carpenter flasher wrasse, McCosker Flasher wrasse, Lubbock Fairy wrasse, and the red velvet fairy wrasse. If I get 2 of them at once, do I need to get 1 male and 1 female? - or just be sure not to get 2 males or 2 females????

I've been looking at Live Aquaria and they go in and out of stock so quickly, its hard to land on something. I've thought about talking with Mike & Joe at Coral haven, but its too long of a drive for me, and Spring fest is not a good timing for me to get new fish, as I will be leaving the country about 2 weeks after that for 2 weeks, and wouldn't be there to watch them closely.

2 males of the same species might have issues in the same tank. I haven't had any issues with 2 females, and its neat watching the transformation to male. I don't know if they always transform though so it may not be a guarantee. The females are usually very plain coloration and patterns. I think males of different species, or a male/female pair would be the best thing to look at.

I've looked again, and I've narrowed it down to 2 of the following 4:

    Paracheilinu species:

McCosker Flasher Wrasse & Linespot Flasher wrasse

    Cirrhilabrus species:

Red Velvet fairy wrasse & Orange back fairy wrasse

Goodgrief - thanks for the note about Iowa Food & Petscapes. I'll check there.

Maureen - I'll keep your comment in mind also.

I'll check with Coral Haven also.

I think my goal would be to get one male and one female. I'm guessing that the male flasher wrasse don't flash if there's not a female /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/blink.gif. I'm guessing that if I shoot for one female and one male it could be any 2 of the above - same or different species wouldn't matter. If I'm wrong, please let me know!

Looks good but you still haven't decided! lol Male flashers' flash the most when a female(s) is available otherwise, a male can flash (without a female) but not necessarily will do so. Let us know when you get them:0)
