I was talking to another reefer this weekend and they told me they keep their reef a little 'cool' and their corals and zoos love it.  i have always kept my tank around 79 and he is running his at 76...
Anybody else run a cooler than 'norm' temperature?

Everyone's temp very. I keep mine a little warmer then that around 79-80. Not sure if there is really any ill affect from a cooler temp, just as long as the corals and fish aren't effected by it.

I used to run the 79-80, and then I started to get a heat issue then lowered mine to 77 and things are still doing fine.

During the winter my tank has dropped to 76. I like to pull my heater out during the warmer months, and when winter comes around the sometimes drops to that low. I can't say the corals like it any better either way though.
