Anyone have experience with this fixture? For $180 it seems almost unbeatable especially if you put a $ value to your time in a DIY setup. I really like the different LED wavelengths they include - I am not a big fan of white/blue LED only setups.

Lots of good reviews on them over on the big site (RC). I have no personal experince with them but wish I would have seen them before I went the DIY route.

I have the controllable version and I love it. It is basically the same as the value fixture with extra goodies. I actually have a value fixture on the way so I can let you know what I think of that later.

I have only been running it a few weeks so I can't comment on any long term experience but my bubble tips seem to love it and I have a few other things really coming to life. I have not yet added any demanding corals and I am only running at 30% with 90 degree optics.

I am thinking of getting one on my 36" 65g FOWLR. I have a few softies in there, but my 2 bulb T5 is aging and it would be nice to have it if I convert to a reef I could add a 2nd one. Amazing the value on it, I got the 2 bulb T5 for $130 about a year ago and added 2 36" aquaticlifte LED strips at $100 each!! I have not been impressed with those, but I should have done more research on them. For that price I could have gotten one of reefbreeders fancy fixtures!

How large of area are you covering with the 90 optics? Amazing how many people run their LED's under 50% or the corals burn. For 30+ years you couldn't have too much light, now for a few hundred bucks you can totally nuke most corals. I like how they have some ~420nm in there. I put a 403 stunner in my biocube and it's really amazing how the colors come out.

Well I am actually using it now on a 24 inch square probably 6 inches above the water. I plan to eventually hang it a bit higher or remove some of the optics. The optics are really easy to swap and do not void the warranty so I have options.

do you think 2 of these fixtures would be good on my 90gallon reef tank?? 48"x24...its a wave front to the width varies? 90 degree optics????

I would reach out to Logan at Reef Breeders...he will give you the best option. I definitely believe 2 would cover a 90 gallon reef but it depends on how high you hang it as to whether you want 90 or 120 optics. Honestly my 90 optics at 6 inches are too narrow for 24 inches but if I raise them to about 10 or 12 inches they work great. I am setting up a larger tank so I am doing sort of a temporary setup until I decide the permanent location for everything. I am actually thinking of experimenting with my 90 degree optics over a 36" square (150DD) building up just one island under the light and leaving a bunch of swimming room. I will mainly be keeping lower light demanding corals and I want to stock it more like a 60 gallon cube while taking advantage of an extra 100 gallons of water volume. It is just kind of a weird experiment to see how "low maintenance" of a tank I can set up.
