Building a remote refugium to run off my manifold do any of you run one? Heres a few pics of the one I'm going to try out if it works good may change it out to a display refuge any ideas would be appreciated as of now have a spray bar, intake, out flow, and a back up overflow will also install a small power head. If you see something that may not work right please comment I like this idea so you have a much larger area to grow macro algae and build up pods without using up main sump space. Thanks for looking.

Interesting. Is that light going to be OK? What is the IP rating? Color of the chip? Wattage?

I use lights on my refugium very similar to that and great results.
Mine are 20 watt and 6500k. Less than 20 bucks shipped on ebay.

So are you using the refugium as a way to grow pods or are you using for nutrient export? I have seen people have remote deep sand beds for extra biological.

I'm using it for pods and nutrient export most sumps only have small areas witch are still great for pods but not large enough for nutrient export when you have a heavy bioload. It's something I just wanna try will see how it works out would like to eliminate one reactor and just run one reactor with carbon gfo mix then eventually just run carbon Along with refugium

Hmm never thought of doing this. I think it's a brilliant idea! The idea of a trash can full of chaetomorpha and pods really apeals to me. Right now I have a 24x18 section of sump for fuge and it fills up with chaeto way to fast. I'm doing this!

Looks wonderful! Is there any impact on the pH since the lid is on the fuge? It would be wonderful for the amount of pods grown! Not only for feeding mandarins, anthias, etc but also for the corals!!

If your asking me. No heat isn't an issue. I run t5 on my display and led on fuge in an enclosed stand.
