I've had my 24G cube running for a couple years now, but I'd like to reaquascape now. When I first set it up, I just put in two large totoka rocks. They're not bad, but it's just those rocks sitting against the back of the tank. I bought 20lbs of punkani rock today in various sizes to make something more interesting. I've cleaned any sponges, coral and algae off of them that I could find. I have them in a bucket now with a heater and pump. Originally I planned to go ahead and make the swap this week and add a bottle of Dr. Tim's One and Only. My fear is that there will still be a big cycle, and I'll lose my fish and coral. Any thoughts or experience with this? Should I move ahead with the swap or let them cure in a bucket for a few weeks? Of course I'm anxious, but I'd rather wait than lose any livestock. Do note that I also have a 2-3" live sandbed that will remain in the tank. Thanks in advance!

I would wait. No sense risking the critters and contaminating the sandbed. Also, after the rock has soaked for a few days and before a Wc, test the water for phosphate. It tends to leach PO4 :0(
