When I started my new tank in June I bought a Speedwave DC pump. It's virtually the same pump as the Reef Octopus, made by the same factory with the same parts, but without the red RO plastic. It ran great for the first six months of use and then last week with no warning, kaput. I have it soking in vinegar solution and am going to try to revive it this weekend, but I wanted to provide this little bit of infor for anyone thinking of going DC.

Ive had the 3000 for about 6 months as well. I hope it stays working. I have noticed it has gotten a little less silent.

Well that's no good. Does it still spin or is it locked up completely?

Crummy! I really wanted to get one of those... hopefully its still under warranty?

Was it just ran as your return pump or were you using it for the closed loop?

It was my return. It should be still under warranty. I've contacted the North American distributor to exercise the warranty. I was thinking about replacing my closed loop with one as well, but let's see how this goes. Up until the moment it died it was running perfectly.

It does spin, but just nothing happening.

I hooked up my reserve Marineland MJ5500 and that got me a bunch more flow, which caused other problems (see other thread I started about soaked power supplies.)
