At Dave's recommendation I ordered in 65 lbs of Tampa Bay Saltwater live rock.

I must say I am incredibly impressed. Not only with the quality of rock, but by the customer service they gave me.

They only ship to airports, and he actually emailed me within 5 minutes of my boxes landing in CR to let me know they were ready to pick up.

The main reason I bought it was because I wanted to seed my system with as much life diversity as I could early on. And wow, there were small crabs, snails, & MYSID SHRIMP all over these.

Now I will say it is not cheap by any means, but you get what you pay for. With shipping it comes out to be around $8 a lb.

Yeah no kidding! I considered that rock once but was too new to the hobby and worried (still) about hitchhikers and unwanted algae.

No, but it is going in my refugium, not the main tank.

Looking at reviews, I wasnt too worried. Majanos & Aptaisia do not come from the Carribean, and the system is fishless right now.

    NO QT

What kind of rock is it? Any branching or shelves or is it mostly just chunks? Find any interesting critters yet?
I remember looking into them when I was getting started in the hobby. Pretty much everything you read about them is good. Just couldn't justify the price back then.

It is actually some cool pieces. One is full of holes like someone glued a bunch of branch together. Others are 6-8 inches long, shaped like a boomerang or kidney bean and 3 inches thick. A few others were just rock shaped.

Found a ton of snails, assorted crabs, mysid shrimps.

I think I will order another 50 lbs in a couple weeks.

I have always wanted to order from there particularly for the hitchhikers. Maybe some day.
