RO Buddie

    Is there anybody out there that has an RO Buddie? if so, where can I get the preservation fluid the instruction manual suggest when not in use for 10-15 days. Its suppose to protect the membrane from freezing or drying out. Thanks

    Is this for when you remove the membrane from the housing? If you just shut off the feed line, it won't dry out, water stays inside.

    I haven't hooked it up to the water source yet. It says in the instructions to use the prevention fluid when not in use for 10-15 days. So I've been scared to use my RO Buddie in fear of damaging my membrane!

    I think they're talking about after you use it first. All RO membranes typically come in a plastic bag and they have a preservative in them. That's why you run it for a while when you first use it, to flush out the preservative.

    Once you hook it up and turn it on, it's usually recommended to run it for something like 30 minutes to flush that stuff out. Once that's done you can just shut it off and leave it. I don't know of anyone that removes the membrane from the housing and lets it dry out unless you're moving or selling it I suppose.
