What is everyone using in Cedar Rapids for RO/DI? It is looking like the city uses Chloramines? http://thegazette.com/2013/03/16/cedar-rapids-drinking-water-at-top-of-201-treatment-systems/

Let me know your thoughts thanks

Air, water, ice extreme typhoon 3. I buy the extreme T pack filter array when its due for a change. I've never had a problem with any filters I bought from them.

So that takes chloramines out? How is the bulk reef supply version?

I ordered a set of filters from BRS once and had nothing but issues. They kept clogging and causing my output to go to crap. I don't know what was going on, but I just went back to AWI filters and no problems since. I like BRS, but won't ever buy filters from them again because of that problem I had.

Other than my issue, I really haven't heard of any other problems with the BRS units. I would encourage you to check out the filter options from our Club sponsors though. We have both air water ice, and buckeye hydro that specialize in RO/DI and offer discounts to our club members.

Yep I like the one you have. Where do I find how to get the discount? Also do you use a booster pump?

I buy mine off EBay, but you get what you pay for. I have had no problems with them but you never know. They are very cheap, but I may try AWI next.

Any club discount codes can be found in the first sticky thread under the club forum Great Deals, Powerbuys, Ect.

Also both buckeye hydro and Air water ice post their current promotions in the commercial vendors and sponsors area.

Here is what AWI has for this quarter, they also include information for how to get all the discounts available. http://www.greateriowareefsociety.o...fault.aspx

    And Buckeye Hydro specials http://www.greateriowareefsociety.o...fault.aspx

If you have questions both of them have excellent customer service and will steer you in the right direction for what system meets your needs.

The units themselves are basically the same across the board. Its just the filters that may or may not be different. Best bet is to get in contact with whoever you are buying from with these questions. They will get you the answers you need.
I know chlorine and chloramines are not the same thing, but I don't know if there are actually specific filters made to remove one vs. the other.
