Rock Anemone Breeding?

Yes. I guess where should I start?

 

After writing a book figured Id shorten it. I had one have 8 babies shortly after I got it, when I got it- it squirted out eggs when removed from the holding tank. Then in my other tank I had 1 spawn, several weeks later about 9 spawn at the same time. Month or so later which was a few weeks ago I noticed 2 babies. Then about 5 of them spawned last night.

 

Some of them I dont feed at all, 2 particular ones Ive had a year this month and see no ill effects, still amazing color, their size is the same but they are a larger size than most I usually see. I wanted to do a nem only tank so when I saw ones I liked Id buy them and put them in one of my other tanks, that tank has quite a few. Ive read higher population and heavy feeding. I wanted to give that a try. Normally I was feeding that tank each nem by hand about once a week. I was working towards every other day, alternating between cod, mysis and brine. I didnt get to every other but maybe 3 times a week, then I didnt feed for about a week, then I fed one day and that night was when the mass spawning was. I also moved my known female into that tank and I saw a video of a guys female dropping eggs. The other night when they spawned one of my larger ones had its mouth in the shape of the one from the video so I guess Ill see what comes of this round.

How many do you have?

 

Umm, last I counted I had around 60. Ive got 1 in a 21g cube, over a dozen in my 73 and over 40 in the "spawning" tank. They range from being on the other side of the tank to touching each other.

 

Where do you get them from?

I would love to pick some up

 

Ive gotten them from probably 20 different places. Ebay, frag shows, lfs, various online places.

Hard to see but theres a couple of babies.

 

Like blackx-runner said there getting more popular now. When I got my first one close to 2 years ago there wasnt alot of places that had them. I havent seen too many lfs that have them, or if they do they are the more common colors. But Ive seen them range from $20 to $400 for one about the size of a quarter. Heard of a super rare half and half sell for $1,500.
