So after listening to Randy Reed's discussion on Rotifers from fall fest, I'm thinking I need to start my own colony.
Has anyone been doing this already or thinking about giving it a shot?  I'm curious to find out where I can get my hands on some.
Feel free to hijack this thread and add any thoughts.

I am definitely doing it. You can order them directly from Reed Mariculture.

Me to,think me and Adam are going to split the order from Reed? Once I get some going I can help out area member's that are interested. Just haven't gotten around to it.

Yea I'll be buying some and starting a good culture, but I want to wait until after I move toward the end of December before I get into any of this.

I have a very healthy Rotifer colony. My 3 gallons have been up for about 4 months and still going I struggled to keep these alive for a while. It is not easy as you have to keep up on water changes feed these atleast 2 times a day have a good source of greenwater and other foods. I would be willing to sell some of mine as these guys get expensive with shipping. I had them shipped 3 times before I had them alive they died 2 times...just some info on these little buggers before hand. Temp. Salinity. Air bubbles. Lighting all take a huge effect on how these grow. Let me know if I can help.

Ok I can rotifers are very very small it is impossible for a pic to show one. These are between 50-250 microns small.

Any chance you would consider writing a GIRS Wiki article on this? Then it will be recorded for all to benefit from in the future. A green water Wiki would be great as well. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah I picked up some green water from Jeremy not that long ago. He lives out by Sugar Bottom. I would recommend contacting him if your interested. It was a very good deal in my opinion. I agree with jtesdall also it would be awesome if you would write up a wiki!!! Also excited to see the pics of your rotifer setup. Thanks for the info thus far, keep it coming!
