If you had the choice, buying a RR tank or a tank you had to drill. Which would it be and why?
Are the RR overflow setups loud? under rated? or actually a convenience?

I would drill myself, namely because no tank manufacturer makes a coast to coast bean animal overflow system to my knowledge, unless it's a custom order.

Exactly, not to mention it is much cheaper to drill your own than pay for a RR tank and they work better.  I hate the big full height overflows they put in them waste of space IMO.  Go out the back, surface skim and keep the overflow box as small/short as you can.
