Anybody in the club dive? I saw Craig's tan and I got to assume he does!
Please chime in. (I do, if anyone is wondering)

I dive about once a year for the last 12 or so. Went about a month ago in Pattaya Thailand saw some nice giant clams, some huge anemone fields with a bunch on clowns and finally a sea turtle.

I'm certified, but I've only been on one dive since I was certified. It's just really tough to do in land locked Iowa, but I'd like to do it more.

One thing that I'd like to see organized at some point in the future is a club scuba trip. There are a lot of dive resorts in the Caribbean that offer some really sweet deals.

I'm going snubing it mexico I guess its a cross between cuba and snorkeling the air line is hooked to the boat so you can't go very far but you can stay under the water the whole time

Christina and I were planning to get certified this year...but never been scuba before. Only snorkel. If there's serious interest in a club trip, I can have Christina look into things. She loves planning trips. Let me know!

I am very serious AJ, but probably not until next year when MACNA is (hopefully) a fond memory...

If you guys are planning on getting certified, I'd suggest you do something similar to what I did: Do your pool & classroom work at SeaTaSea here in Cedar Rapids (they are awesome) and then do your open water dives to complete your certification while your on the dive trip. It's a lot more fun to dive in the tropical ocean than it is to dive in a cold lake in Wisconsin...

Sorry I cut and ran on this post. I was skiing last week. Anyways, a couple things....

    1. SeataSea in CR is a great dive shop. Ken is a super cool dood and his staff is awesome. He has a GREAT store.....seriously sick.

    2. I took the class at STS in CR. It was on two weekends. On weekend one you do four hours classroom on Sat morning, and four hours pool work on Sat afternoon. On Sunday you did four hours pool in the AM and four hours classroom in the PM. Now I think you can even do a bulk of the work online. Gotta love technology. Then on another weekend they take you to the Haigh Quarry in Kankakee, IL. That weekend is pretty fun. You do all the dives for 'real' and finish your certification. You dive two days for about four hours each day.

    3. If we wanted to do a trip, you can get super involved (think Indonesia) or go super easy, like Cozumel. We did a trip to Cozumel in November and paid $700.00 per person to stay five nights at a SUPER SWANK resort (seriously I have travelled all over and this place was SICK). It included all food and drinks, including alcohol. Then it cost $500 for FIVE days of boat diving. So basically for $1200.00 and a flight (cheap in November) you get a week diving vacation, all included. And the diving was awesome. We got rained out one day though. Saw sharks, turtles, tangs all kinds of ****.

Certified since '06. Got my nitrox cert in '09. I've only been on two ocean dive trips so far, Miyakojima and Palau. Hoping to go somewhere this year too. A club scuba trip would be very cool!

I'm definitely going to get my Nitrox cert before I go diving again. I tend to really burn through my air quickly.

I don't see any reason why we shouldn't do a club dive trip... It sounds like a lot of fun.

Guess I'll have to renew my PADI/DAN memberships too...
