Made my first trip down to Sea of Marvels tonight with the Mrs. and my daughter.  Aurora liked Hung and was laughing at him.  He's a cool guy.  Grabbed a dozen snails for $10 - yea $10!!! Here in CR they want a $1.69 a piece so talk about a steal of a deal.  He also has some cool fish!  I so didnt take enough cash with me tonight.  If I would've had more you'd see pics of fish after this message but that'll have to wait until next week when I get paid!
If you havent been down to Sea of Marvels I highly recommend it!  I'll be back down their next week for more snails and a few fish!

Hung has been good to me since I started going there about a year ago. His prices are always fair, and he is a wealth of knowledge. He also loves kids!!!

ACC is great because they have merchandise that you normally would have to order online! They also have an amazing selection of corals, and Craig is also a great resource. Be sure to take lots of money there also, seems I never have enough for everything I would like to get !!! LOL

No, they both take credit/debit as well..

Sea of Marvels is great for fish and inverts though IMO he does not keep nearly the variety he did when he first opened the store.

What really sets stores like AC&C and AE apart is the equipment they sell. SoM sells some equipment, but most of it is very basic or the type of stuff you only consider when you're very new in the hobby.

Lets not forget customer service. I dont have any experience with SoM or with ACC But AE always gives me top notch service and knowing craig I am sure its very much the same there.

Drive on up to AC&C and we'll treat you right! Hey Thy, if your really in the market for a Cortes, AC&C has one in stock, I believe it's in the medium range, so pricing would probably be in between Hung's prices.

would love to have one in my tank after seeing the large one at SoM. I have a shopping list of fish i want but need to rebuild the tank stand and get the tank drilled before i get to much further into stocking my tank ( 3 blue damsels and 150 lbs of LR). Anyone want to assist with figuring out some DIY overflows? Anyone able to drill a tank for me? Need 2-1.75" and 1-1" hole drilled in the back of my 125g

I just moved to North Liberty from Des Moines pretty recently and I will admit that I was impressed by the selection of fish (especially agressive) at Sea of Marvels. However, I haven't seen much of a selection for SPS corals out this direction. Is there an LFS out here in the corridor that carries a decent selection of SPS corals or do I need to go with frag fests and ordering online?

AC&C in Washburn has a lot of corals and fish to pick from. Also, Aquatic Environments in Davenport has quite a coral selection but I'm not sure how much is SPS

As far as I know, the only LFS that stocks really nice corals is AC&C. It's about an hour north of you.

Hung is a nice guy, but he hates the club & everything it stands for. Nick & Mike at Pets Playhouse in CR, Aquatic Enviornments in QC,and Seascapes in DM at least try to work with the club. I would much rather spend my money with any of them!

Hung is an interesting character. I found that he is quite knowledgeable but close minded. 6 or 7 months ago he basically told me when I was in that my tank would not be successful without a sump and it's doing just fine. His advice is good but it is far from the only way to do it (even though he may not agree) I do plan to go back in the future.
did he still have the nurse sharks? I watched one almost snatch his hand when he was leaning against the tank with it dangling over the water. That sharks jaws slamming shut as it broke the surface sounded like a gunshot!
