September Meeting (Trip to Nebraska Aquatics)

I know so far of 2 people riding with me and we are planning on being there around 12:15 or so. We have room for more if anyone is interseted in carpooling

 

For anyone that doesn't know me, I'll be wearing a black GIRS t-shirt tomorrow. So club members, check in with me at the store by 1:00 and I can add your name to the drawing. We'll actually do the drawing just before 2pm - as the 1st speaker starts at 2:00 and we don't want to miss it!

 

So, zoobie - want to meet at my house at 10:15 and leave from here?

As far as I know there is. You would be the 4th person. Zach (zoobie) is meeting at my house and we are leaving at 10:15.

If you're there by 1:30 should not be a problem. We will do the drawing shortly before 2pm - so as to be finished before the speakers start.

Had a great day on Saturday. I heard two great speakers - Joe Yaiullo and Sanjay. Joe's talk was an interesting presentation on the 20,000 gallon tank at the Long Island Aquarium. He had great pics of a dive in the tank where he was cutting back coral. Sanjay gave an interesting presentation on Lighting. I listened to only part of Rich Ross's presentation. And we decided to skip Mitch Carl's presentation - only because he wasn't speaking until 6:30 - and we wanted to be on the road back to Des Moines by then.


Lots of food and drink and nice coral frags and fish. Chris (Fence) and Zach (zoobie) won the 2 gift cards that the region provided and I won the box of salt. It was funny because Zach drew out the 1st name - and it was his. So then Chris drew the 2nd name - and he also drew his own name. Dan then tried to see if he could make it 3 for 3, but instead he drew my name. Sorry about that Dan!


Great educational experience - and worth the drive. Great conversation in our car as well! I enjoyed the trip with you guys. Thanks for driving Zach. I hope the frag I gave you for gas money is doing well.

 

Yes frag is doing great. Very good speakers like you said. Also we got great deals on frags and fish. Very nice store and people there. Will go back next year if they do it again. Had a good time with everyone who went.

 

It was such a good time I'm going to swing back through there on my way home today from the zoo just to see what they have /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

I just got a replacement Kole Tang for the one I bought while we were down here. That little fella unfortunately did not last. It was interesting stopping by again because they had not yet fully restocked their fish.
