    FYI,
I will be moving the GIRS website to a faster/bigger/better web server this evening.
The site may be unavailable for around an hour.
If by chance you are still seeing the "we're down for maintenance" message after a couple of ours, it's because your computer is still using the old ip address for the server.   The site will come back for you as soon as your computer gets the new address.   This can sometimes be sped up by simply rebooting.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for spending the time to do this. I look forward to the website running on the new faster/bigger/better server.

    Thanks again!

You're welcome, but be sure to thank the board.

They moved quickly on getting us a new server when it because clear that we'd outgrown the current one.

What a great problem to have! Will help with the lag when submitting posts?

    Thank you GIRS board.

Yep, everything should be faster on this server. I'll be upgrading to a newer version of the forum software soon so that should help too.

DotNetNuke is a monster. Did we get a really big server that can house us for a while?

Yes, we now have a physical dedicated server with plenty of memory, drive space and bandwidth.

It should last us for a while.

Will it handle a Gonzo's live sale better? LOL.

Yes and no. That wasn't really a resources issue. There is a known bug in the software that can cause problems on occasion with certain posts. This has been addressed in the next version which should be able in the next week or two.

There are some big changes coming for the website. I think everyone will like them.

Do you have any experience doing DNN module development?

Not yet but I am fixing to get a server with it going so I can learn it. I am more of a Drupal guy right now. Was working with DragonFly Nuke and Joomla. Joomla is such a pain in the back side to work with though. Have we thought about moving away from DNN?

Not really. There is no real reason to and we'd lose years worth of user generated content in the process.

Besides, DNN 6.2 (which we're not running on the site yet) has a huge number of improvements. It's also a module developers dream.

I'm a php guy but asp shouldnt be to hard to learn. I've seen some new things for DNN that look to make things easier in the long run. Wonder if my server could handle a virtual of it lol.
