I found this out the hard way. My heater was leaking voltage and I figured that out when I got zapped trying to get water for testing. Heather went in trash, new one on order and should have shipped today. Also looking at getting a ground probe now since I read this thread. Thanks for the advise!!!

Found the problem..I have a korillia getting water past the seal for the motor. Put blk silicone on it ...let it dry..rechecked no problem. I also bought a couple probes for the tanks off ebay. Should have tomorrow. Thanks

Every tank should have a ground probe.  Period.  Ask Phishcrazee... It might save your tank and/or your life.  Cheap insurance.
It will not solve your problem, finding and eliminating the source of the voltage will.  It's more like a safety belt.  It might save your life but it might hurt /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I have a brand new grounding probe if someone wants one. $10.00. It's like this one. I'm in Des Moines. http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_viewitem.aspx?idproduct=UL1711&child=UL1711&gclid=CObdv5nB5KsCFSwEQAodDyF6LA

Ok I know it's on this site somewhere, and that link for lmgtfy had one on there - grounding probes in and of themselves are not good. You must use a GFCI outlet also. Who had a thread about that on here???
