We need to replace our siding sometime soon.  Has anyone had any experience with Siding companies either good or bad?  Also, if you a certain type of siding on your house, what are the pros and cons of they type you have?
I can think of several things I'd rather spend money on than siding LOL
    Thanks

If you want to save some money, DIY! Siding isn't rocket science and you save a ton doing it yourself. I helped a buddy do his entire house last summer, it was a little time consuming but saved him thousands.

You can be certain that I won't do it myself...lol Maybe I can talk my sons into it. In another life I have shingled, sided, painted, etc etc my house but NOT going to do it anymore haha
I've been doing some reading online and everyone seems to like the Certainteed sp? the best.  I'm just going to have to talk to some contractors to get more info.

Actually I would pass on Certianteed.  Go with a company called Journeymen, sold by Lowes and some other places.  Certianteed is only a .041 thickness and the Journeyman is a .044 with a 170 mph wind rating and a transferable lifetime warranty, and is close to the same price about 75-80$ a square feet.  If you need any help figuring stuff up let me know.  Also what do you have up there now, will it be a tear off and replace or what are you looking to do.  Me and my dad do some siding in the summer on weekends and stuff so depending on the size might be something we would tackle.

Matt, What is there now is wood siding so I'm assuming it will have to be removed. It's a defective siding and lots of lawsuits regarding it in this area. It looks awful and painting only works for 3 or 4 yrs. VERY frustrating.

It's a ranch style with some brickwork in front so it's basically 2 sides and the back and a little in front. You're more that welcome to come and take a look and give me an estimate if you are interested.
