Exotic Critter Corner will be holding an online Silent Auction fund raiser tentatively this weekend May 11-May 13.  Recently our store Blue and Gold Macaw Mascot Rio had to under go surgery to remove diseased tissue in her trachea, as it was growing and closed her air way.  This lead to her having to have an air sac tube inserted directly into her lungs so that she could breath.  This was the final diagnosis after numerous weeks of visits to a few vets and lenghty stays in CCU and oxygen cages.  Needless to say the vet bills amassed have been great.  To help offset the cost, we thought it would be a great idea to have a Silent Auction of some of the corals and other items we have in stock.  There will be a mix of Ultra Aussie acans, chalices, zoo's, palys, we even have a rare gold mushroom and more.
A glimpse of some of the corals can been seen on our facebook page at the following link: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...b982d16b3v

For anyone looking for a deal on a protein skimmer, we have eShoppes S150 Cone Skimmer for $300.
    Guidelines:
Pictures of corals will be posted on our facebook page, to the link above.  At the start of the auction members will send a message via GIRS to exoticcrittercorner to have your bid registered.  Corals are to be referenced by the number listed in the description field.  At the end of the auction, the pieces will go to the highest bidders.  There are a number of wicked pieces that would be a great addtion to any tank.  The pictures definitly do not do them justice.

Delivery of corals and products can be made to the Quad Cities, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids areas.  For reefers outside of these areas, shipping will be available for and additional fee of $15.

We thank you for your participation and hope you enjoy the auction.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me via email at exoticcrittercorner@hotmail.com or here on GIRS.

I'm so sorry to hear about Rio /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif What is her prognosis Brian? Where did she undergo the surgery? My sister has a Lilac-crowned Amazon parrot so I know how expensive they can get...ouch! Count me in for the Silent Auction!!

ok so when is this starting? and how do the buyers know what the current prices are? I see a few items id be interested in but shooting random numbers at someone with no idea about who else is bidding seems odd. I'd hate to loose a piece I really like because someone was bidding a dollar or two more that me and not know it

Any silent auction I've been to has a piece of paper and a pen. If you want the item you place a bid. How is this anything like that? If your randomly pming numbers to someone without knowing the current high number your basically wasting your time and effort. If someone offers 50 bucks for a piece and 10 people behind that person are all shooting below 50 (because they have no idea of the first bid) they basically wasted there time trying to buy the item. I guess im not trying to come off as difficult or anything just trying to clarify things so this thing makes some cash for the bird. Some nice pieces in this pot i don't want to mess up my bidding by doing it wrong

Rio is doing good and she we were able to bring her home today. She was at the University of Wisconsn Veterinary School and they were just great with her. They can not guarantee that it will not re-occur and that they removed all of the diseased tissue, but we are praying that it doesn't.

As for the particulars of the auction: I was hoping to get all of the images uploaded tonight, but due to a camera issue i do not have the zoo or paly pics, but will have them up soon. I am working out the logistics of the auction as you make a valid point glaspie.

Please stay tuned for further information.

Let the Bidding Begin! The Auction will be held until Wednesday May 16th at 10:00 pm
The items can been seen on our facebook page at the following link:http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.372741699444495.99000.148011088584225&type=1

    Guidelines:
Pictures of corals are posted on our facebook page, to the link above. To bid on an item, please comment your bid under the picture. This will allow people to rebid an item if they wish. At the end of the auction, the pieces will go to the highest bidder. There are a number of wicked pieces that would be a great addtion to any tank. The pictures definitly do not do them justice.
We had a few people send messages about wanting to rebid an item they would really like to have, so we have changed the format of the auction to make it fair to all those that wish to participate.
Delivery of corals and products can be made to the Quad Cities, Iowa City and Cedar Rapids areas. For reefers outside of these areas, shipping will be available for and additional fee of $15 on frags and full pieces will depend on the weight.

/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/rio_surgery_2.jpgRio had her stitches out on Saturday and is well on her way to recovering.  We hope they got all of the tissue and we dont have to go through this again.  I have attached a picture of her went we brought her home with her collar and bandages on.  It was great to also see the vet on Saturday and have them take out the stitches for no charge.  the Animal Family Pet Hospital in Davenport was great to work with and Dr. Kathy was fantastic with her.
Thanks for all of the bids, we appreciate the support.
    All the best,
    Brian
