Brought home a sixline wrasse and a royal gramma they are in QT. The sixline wrasse was fine when I brought it home Wed but today is hiding not eating and has white string hanging from rectum. Its probably an internal parasite. Question is if I don't want to chance the royal gramma getting it would it be best to pull it out or is 48 hours enough time to be contagious? Are internal parasite treatments effective or is it a lost cause?

You could dose copper to kill the parasites it has. Other than that I'm not sure what is effective on internal parasites.

Found out Prazipro is effective for internal parasites and won't hurt your live rock or bio filtration. Although if you are not wanting to kill feather dusters, bristle worms etc on your live rock then other form of treatment is necessary. It will bother invertebrates.

Using it as a preventive for royal gramma because six line died.

If you do it I would use a separate tank. Do a water change and use that old water in the separate tank. Put some pvc fittings in there for it to hide and dose that tank. If you dose in your qt tank now the rock and sand will soak it up then leach it out for who knows how long. If you have dedicated tank for it you would be fine. Just want to make sure in the future you don't mix up the rock by accident and put it into your display. Could cause some damage.

The rock was used to cycle QT tank and that's all the tank will be used for plus its bare bottom so no sand. Thanks for your concern.
