Skimmer Advice

I know reefgoon09 has a MRC-MR1 skimmer and MAG 12 pump for sale. He got it from me and it's in excellent condition. There are others that have this same skimmer and have given it quite positive reviews and would be appropriately sized for that setup.

I've been really happy with my EuroReef skimmer that I'm using on my quarantine setup.

You may also want to check ReefCentral buy/sell forum for other listings, but be very careful when dealing with people you don't know.

When i was doing research for skimmers most recommended the Reef Octopus. i purchased the 160 based on the recommendations. i know a few people who do have it and they are thrilled with how it works.

i love my euroreef, but i dont think you can buy them anymore cept used ones. the octopus ones seems to be the best bang for the buck

 

Jay - if you're looking for a Reef Octopus 160....I have a brand new one / still in the box. I'm considering selling it because...well....let's just say that I didn't plan very well !! (grrr) So....before you buy, give me a buzz. I'll make you a deal.

 

I run TWO reef octopus. My best advice is whatever skimmer you choose, get a big one that is twice as big as you need.

If you have a 100 gallon tank, get one rated for 200.

I have about 400 gallons and my skimmers are rated for 700 between the two.

 

you could always swap out with a 29g....same footprint, but much taller

 

or do a recirculating skimmer, they dont require a specific height, just make sure the water exits just a little above the water.
