skimmer going crazy

There is most likely something in your water. Do you have a ro unit? I would do a large water change ( with 0 TDS water) and see what happens.

I use to have that with my skimmer I had on my 20g. No idea why it did it but it would eventually stop after a couple days. I just had to keep emptying the collection cup frequently.

 

i agree with something in the water. mine did that along time ago when i was dosing chemicals that i didn't test and overdosed. mine also goes in frenzy mode when i feed or scrap the glass. i would test your water with what ever tests you have and do a big water change.
