I have an Eshopps S-200 cone skimmer. When I was out of town last week my sump ran dry and so did the skimmer pump, a sicce psk-1000. I took it apart this weekend and found that the magnet on the impeller had expanded and cracked. The pump iself seems to be fine. I'm having a hard time finding a replacement impeller. Wondering if anyone knows of another more readily-available part that I could swap.

I'm starting a new tank (a 125 instead of a 180) and I was planning to run this skimmer. It's rated at 200 gals. Too much? It's been a solid performer for me.

I found an impeller for $40. Might just go that route. Tempted to go for a new skimmer, but since I'm starting a new tank. I'm hoping to not do that.

The sicces psk 1000 is a great skimmer pump. Much better than the psk 2500.

Not sure about the quality of the skimmer itself.

I would replace the impeller and be done with it.

You could probably contact Avast or Coralvue and get one. ACC could probably get one in for you as well.

When you say ran dry, do you mean it evaporated water to where it was too low of a level? If so, then your sump must not have baffles in it to keep it at a constant level? I would highly recommend keeping it in a constant level portion (check the skimmers recommended water level for optimal performance). This not only greatly enhances the skimming performance, it keeps the pump in water regardless of how much has evaporated.

No water leaked out and the whole sump ran low. My sump is an old seaclear tank. There are baffles in the back. I was only out of town for a few days. There was a full top off res. When I left. This wan an unusual circumstance.

I feel ya man! I'm repairing a Mag 24 for a friend at work and I chipped the ceramic shaft on the replacement impeller!
