    Hi:
I currently have a 40gal FOWLR and looking to upgrade my skimmer.  Currently running a SeaClown oops sorry SeaClone.  Not happy with it.  What HO skimmer is the best?
    Thanks

I know alot of people use the reef octopus skimmer and like it. I have a Aqua Remora Nano, but I think they are good to 30 gallons, but try reef octopus, or a CPR BakPak are both good ones.

Lets stay with the Reef Octopus HOB or other high end skimmer like a Deltec. The CPR's are not considered very good which is why you can buy them super cheap used. The Octopus is definitely the best skimmer for the money.
There were two HOB's for sale on here recently, the Deltec from Anna sold but I think Kylie had a HOB Octopus, you can check with her.

I have an Octopus BH 800S if interested. It's less than a year old. Can ship in the original box.

What about the AquaC Remora or Remora Pro?  The Octopus looks pretty large and daunting [IMG]

I used a Remora pro with a Mag3 for about 1.5 years on a 60 and it seemed to work well. They are hit and miss though. Some people love them and some hate them. Personally, I thought it was a decent hang on skimmer.

The Remora is definitely a decent skimmer, but you did ask what is the best skimmer. The Octopus will kick its butt. Depending on price on space requirements go with the Octo.

I have a Aqua C Remora on my 12 and love it. Its taken a couple day to start getting skimate, but now its pumping it out pretty quick.

I have an AquaC Remora on my 60 and it works great....lots of 'gunk' gets pulled out. I also like it cuz it's kind'of'a skimmer for idiots....there are no adjustments. It just runs...and pulls out crap from the water. I've never had an issue with mine.
I also chose it based on the dimensions....for a HO skimmer, it is fairly narrow, which is what I was looking for to prevent the tank from being pushed out from the wall so far.

I have a CPR AeroForce and like it pretty well. It's a recirculating skimmer and does a pretty good job, about the same in performance as a Remora. I'm running it on my 55gal reef tank and I don't think it's quit big enough although I think it'd be great on a 40gal or less.
