Kevin if you want I can help with the plumbing. If it is the metal, I am sure that it will start to affect your fish sooner or later.

Thanks Troy but I got it taken care of this afternoon. I did a large water change and moved to all 1'' pvc plumbing. My snails are all dead and my crabs look as if they are in tough shape. Hardly moving at all. If they die in the next day or two it wouldn't surprise me. I'm planning on doing another large water change next week and hopefully I'm back in full swing.
I don't know if it was the metal drain fitting or rubber fittings (they reeked horribly, toxic like!!).
I'm learning the hard way on this one. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif More to blog/document so other hopefully don't make the same epic fail.

Fish aren't affected by copper as much as snails are, that's why fish are treated with copper for some diseases.  How long has your tank been cycling?  What water are you using?  How are you acclimating?

Tanks been running for 4-5 months. Everything was fine until my plumbing broke and I got the bright idea of using a metal drain as part of the fix. I got everything changed to straight PVC pipe now.
I am using RO water, even for feeding when I do brine.
To acclimate I let the bag float in the tank for a solid 10-15 mins to lets the temps get the same. Then I add a little of my own water to the bag for another few minutes. After that, I let them loose. Do you suggest a different method?
