Sone, thanks for the advice! I am off this weekend and plan on setting my new lights up. I was considering keeping one 400w halide going with two leds on the side that is 42' across. My tank is 37' deep how high off the water would you hang the leds? Thanks for the help. Rob

I keep my LEDs at the same height as my MH, 8" off the surface of the water. I suppose you can set yours to different heights to get a wider or more narrow spread, all depending on what you need for coverage. I think that's why it's so difficult to recommend a setting for LEDs is because each setup can vary wildly.

Hey Sone, can you give me more information about your lighting/exposure settings/post processing. Are you using an external lighting like a strobe, and/or what kind of lights have you got on that tank. you said it's a cannon with a 2.8f, what shutter speed, iso, and aperature settings did you use for these pictures? Did you pull these into photoshop for post processing, white balancing, and color adjustment? I've been screwing around with my settings and I just cant get the white balance settings right. I think I can get a good exposure but....I got to be missing something.

Hey Andy, I don't do a whole lot. I shoot in RAW and bring them into Aperture for post processing. I mainly crop and adjust brightness or contrast to make it closer to what the corals look like in person. I also use an Avast Marine porthole for my top down shots. And I don't use strobes or ext. flashes for the shots. It's stupid simple the way I do it. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
