HELP Please. I'm looking at a return pump and skimmer but not sure what size or type I will need. I'm setting up a 40 breeder display and 20 long for the sump. Came across someone selling this pump and skimmer. Are these going to be to big for what I'm setting up? Also what do you think a good price is to offer for them?

Never heard of that skimmer, and not really familiar with the design. Its not the typical pump and needle wheel common in today's skimmers. IMO there is a reason that designs such as those are pretty rare these days. There are better alternatives out there. Doesn't mean it won't work, just may not be the best bet.

For my 46 bow front I just bought one of these SC-301 it was cheap, has some decent feedback on other forums. Its a knockoff of some much higher priced skimmers and even runs the same exact pump as the higher priced units. Nice and small to fit the space I have, and "rated" pretty close to my water volume. I have not set it up yet, so I can't give you any personal feedback about function. But it appears to be a pretty well made unit for the price. I had to clean up the wedge pipe a little bit so it wouldn't stick, but for $85 i'll take it.
