Some sort of reddish lettuce algae

    Not to come across as too scientific, but that color of red reminds me of homemade cinnamon xmas candy for some reason. : ) Mmmmm. Xmas candy.

    Its actually kind of cool looking whatever it is.

    That's awesome, do you have any herbivorous fish that will eat it? It would be cool to harvest it and feed it to tangs and what not, if they accept it.

    I don't know...I have a Powder Blue in my other tank, but this stuff grows s-l-o-w!

    I had some of that once tell my sailfin tang noticed it.

    I had some of that once tell my sailfin tang noticed it. I thought I saw some in my other tank w/ the tang but it's gone now!
    If it gets too big in the nano I may try growing some in my fuge for the tang.

    Yeah..try growing it in your sump. If you start getting it to grow good and your tangs like it, I may buy a bit from you. Randy was talking about how a growing trend is to grow as much of your own food as possible. Macro and pods in your fuge, and supplement with a little here and there as needed. He was saying that the red/brown algaes are the best when growing as food.

    almost same here, mine was leafing out i guess you could say. El Tango noticed it and thought. Mmmmmmmmm tasty algae. And I think he ate every last piece of it.
