I am looking for a large, food-grade, water vat. More specifically, one just like those used at IaPetFoods in WDM, that hold their live rock for sale.

    Anybody know where to locate?

Have seen the large rectangular vats on CL that have the tube frame around them. They are priced very reasonably, but don't want the frame and don't want to cut off the top.

Looking specifically for the food-grade, square or rectangular, open top type. These are not available as are Rubbermaid stock tanks and other water holding tanks, that you would see at Theisen's, etc.

Have you tried Craigslist? I haven't looked in a while...but I know when I was looking for smaller ones before those large pallet/tote ones like that were on there often.

Your looking for the HDPE square containers. The metal frame is good support, square containers have stress points but more efficient used of shipping space than round barrels.

To be honest, I don't think you will find a food grade" because they are mostly used for paint, fertilizers, pesticides, etc. Try diamond Vogel. It most likely had latex paint, but easy to clean. If money isn't a big deal but a new one. They're made of HDPE. You would t go wrong.

I know that @cowdust9@cowdust9 had a few of these that he got really cheap in town here somewhere for growing out frags. The were 8' long 4' wide and something like 12" deep, hydroponics trays. If you look at BRS they have something like that but it's smaller like 4'x2' in a stand setup, but a bit $$. I would call around to hydroponics supply stores.

I know there is a place in Floyd that sells them or at least multiple style storage containers. Not sure on the food grade standard or the availability of sizes. Just know there are at least a few hundred when I drive by on the way to my parents. Contrary to belief... a lot of the ones that you can find on Craigslist originally held a concentrated version of hydrogen peroxide. And applications using this are licensed farmers and some even being licensed organic farmers. From my experience all the hydrogen we brought in was in food grade 5g,15g,55g and 500g containers. You just need to be sure this is why they had and not fertilizer, usually fertilizer ones get tossed and hydrogen peroxide ones get re sold because "they never contained and chemicals".
