Craig, the board tag is there because there is no other way to allow you to maintain BoD forum access without it, it's tied to the permissions, it's a DNN thing.

As for the whole discussion here, keep in mind that many members have been requesting for years - literally, years - that we change things around, instead of always having SF in DSM and FF move around between IC, CR, Waterloo, QC (like it has been done, for years) that we have SF somewhere else. The only way to actually do this is to 1) have back-to-back fests in DSM, like FF then SF (that was not even entertained as an option) or to have DSM skip a fest and shift the rotation.

We also entertained ideas like having just one big fest a year, and I think even talked about having 3 fests. Ultimately, the decision was made to have SF somewhere else and then FF in DSM. I do not believe this was primarily because of lack of participation in DSM and having no one step up to the plate for SF. It was a factor, but the bigger one IMO is that this change has been something that has been requested and discussed for a very long time.

There's no pleasing everyone. We have a very active club that is spread out over a wide area, and everyone (membership) wants a big event in their area. Things change over time, and we just have to make decisions that we feel are the best for the whole club. Think about this - if the QC and Burlington region get really going strong, there might be a fest out in that direction. Then, we could be faced with 3 "centers" of activity, and we might have to start considering the possibility that we have a 3 fest rotation: one in DSM/Ames, one in CR/IC/Waterloo, one in QC/Burlington. Now before everyone freaks out, that's just a what-if, but the point is that everyone wants a fest in their area once a year, and that just might get to the point where it's not possible.

    Gotta run, work duties call.

    Hello!

I see that you guys have an upcoming frag swap at the beginning of March. I was wondering if your club would be interested in listing your swap on www.reeftrader.com? It's a new website that is completely free to use and was designed specifically for frag swaps by a few dedicated reefers.

The purpose of the website is to provide an easy format for swap attendees to list coral that they have fragged and are looking to sell at the swap. Vendors attending your swap can of course list coral here as well. These pre-arranged sales and trades help to make the swaps more popular and trades easier to facilitate. Typically users selling anything end up spending the money they earn at the vendors booths making for happy vendors as well.

Feel free to visit the site and look around. There is already a club using the website for their swap (LEAR) in February and you can see how swap attendees are already listing lots of coral that they will be bringing to the swap. If you have any questions feel free to email me at travis@reeftrader.com and I will help however I can.

    Thanks for your time,

    Travis
