I joined the group a few weeks ago and currently don't have any aquariums. People were great about offering help in my introduction post.

I plan on taking my time before jumping into anything, so I was considering going to Springfest at the Fairgrounds. Will there be equipment, tanks, different setups, ect ect to look at there?? Being new and never having never attended an event I don't know what to expect.

I just want to make sure it's work making the drive from Cedar Rapids.

If you have any questions that is the place to go. It will make up your mind about getting a tank for sure. There are some dry goods, like lights and powerheads etc but is mainly focused on coral and there are some fish also. There will be quite a few tanks set up to display coral for sale also. Each vendor brings there own tanks to display. There also always something interesting that you weren't looking for until you see it, some new coral or an octopus. It is a good time and you may meet some of the people in your area. I live in jesup which is not to far away.

It's been a few years since I've attended a fest and I'm looking forward to trying to make it to this one. Maybe I just wasn't looking previously, but are there normally many fish at these? I don't recall ever seeing any, but if there are I may have to get my QT ready in advance!

Do we have any idea on the vendors yet or is that still a little ways away?

There is often clownfish. I think we've had a vendor that had fish bagged up ready to go out. I'd be skeptical of buying cheap fish bagged up and sitting on a table though. You'll occasionally see a vendor bring a small amount of fish, but it's not typical. Coral is the big thing for the typical event. There is also always a pretty substantial raffle at the end of the day. Thousands of dollars of items, and probably something that every reefer could use or want.

There are several vendors signed up, and working on more. I believe the committee is working on updating things to start getting that info added to the event details.

This one is kind of different in that it is a joint event with a freshwater club so there will be a good number of tables for the freshwater guys. They also do an auction. I think there will be some saltwater stuff go across the auction block, but i'm not sure.
