I've been busy this summer with the new job so things have been moving slow for me but I am making progress on my systems redesign.
First for those who don't know NPS stands for non photosynthetic corals, ( Dendros, Carnations, and Gorgonians other filter feeders.)
I'm going to try a new concept:
    1. First the feeding of the corals needs to be on a more constant schedule, 24-7. I will use a custom food reactor to drip food into the display 24-7.
    2. To help keep the food into the display, I will cycle the return pump from the sump to the display. (turning it on and off with a timer) exp- on for 15 min off for 60min etc. While the pump is off to the display, a second pump will keep recirculating the water through the sump this will Polish the water in the sump to a high degree.
    3. I will be using 2 or more Vortecs in the display to keep the water movement, ( while the sump is in recirculating mode) keeping the food in suspension.
I will have photos and more info as I go so stay tuned.

    Sounds interesting, Rick!
I look forward to watching this unfold for you! (pics, pics, pics!)
Certainly a step-up and not for the inexperienced reefed as the husbandry (why do we call it that?) needs to be very detailed and precise.
    Good luck!

I'm so glad you have posted again on this Rick, this is one thread I'm eager to follow... I too have been playing more with NPS coral and am excited to hear your progress.

Now we just need to to get that skimmer thread moving again too. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

For some reason I'm having trouble uploading pics to the web sight! I'll have to figure it out.
