So the local sherrif has made his pass by my house every midday and evening since I've lived in Ryan in 08'.
Lately I've noticed him driving looped around the block and making special trips through the alleyway which is used by two residents and is otherwise barren.

So... Is it time to offer a friendly tour of my Stoney Herbal growing facility?

If I'm understanding you correctly, you think that Officer Friendly thinks your tank lights are grow lights for less-than-legal flora?

Are your lights visible through the windows from the street?

Exactly, and Horribly, yes. Its a brilliant purple blue hue lumenating through the basement windows.
Funny thing, few months ago I had the whole king of the hill scene from my neighbors. 4 blue collars with beer in hand staring at the back of my house.. It was picture perfect.

Yeah, I know that situation, and you're not the first to have this happen to them :) If the officer is pretty regular with his passes, maybe you could flag him down with a friendly wave and satisfy his curiosity with a tank tour.

Then again there's the whole "Never invite the man into your life" mantra...

Too bad it's not like TV cops where when they serve the warrant they will taste test your zoas to see if it's a controlled substance. Note to self: Don't pick up individual baggies of livestock from abower's house.

I love it, funny as hell watching the deputy coast along.

Be even better if the tank was grown out. Have random hobbiest stopping by for trimmings, leaving with little baggies. Unmarked slightly up the road with two men sporting a Mustache, Chinese takeout, and big gulps.

Couple weeks ago I came accross a shirt that had captions, <what my {wife} thinks I do> {kids} {friends} {neighbors}. The neighbor one showed a hemp leaf.

Lmao! My neighbors finally asked me about the blue lights. So I took the in and showed them what I was growing. We joke about it all the time now.

I too was questioned by my neighbor about the glow coming from the windows. I told her it was my numerous saltwater tanks and with a chuckle she responded with "oh...I wasn't sure if you had something like plants growing". She almost seemed disappointed lmao

Lol, this is too funny, wonder what my distant neighbors think of my place, with 2 big *** dogs roaming my yard? And many of blue lights, and people coming and going? Good thing I have a friend on the narcotics swat team! Lol

In the early days of Ebay I was ordering a lot of lighting equipment, tubing, etc as I was adding plants to a freshwater setup. At the time I was working as an intern for a certain county attorney's office. My house was raided while I was at work and they got to find my 55g discus tank. I was asked to leave interning there when it was found out I had been the subject of an investigation, even though the sole basis of the warrant was a tracking and pattern of my purchases on ebay combined with the observed high intensity light coming out of my basement window. Needless to say it certainly encouraged my eventual decision on being a defense attorney.

Good thing coral harvesting is not outlawed. "The Blue Light Racketeers", they call themselves. An illegal trade organization in which members buy, sell, and trade, endangered coral grown and harvested from their own tanks. Common signes your neighbor is involved include random individuals coming and going from the property with coolers and/or styrophome boxes, a brilliant blue haze emitted from windows or permanently covered, and oddly high water and electric usage. If you see these signs contact your local authorities at once. Do not attempt to approach these individuals yourself!

Lol that's messed up man. Have always worried that something like this could happen. Especially when I meet a lot of people at random gas stations to trade corals.

You need to meet at the Road Ranger on fist avenue at 1am. Don't get out of the car. Just set so the can pull up and you do the deal through windows. Let me know so I can take my work radio home and I can listen in... I'll even call it in to dispatch. Hell, Might as well film it at that point.

Post it up on reef central "Blue Light Racketeers Busted!... for Exotic Coral Trade?"

Just wait until they charge you with "Distributing a simulated controlled substance" and claim the mushroom corals you were selling look like psilocybin.
