Well I just spent almost an hour reading a how someone set up there system to create storms in there tank. It is tied into a weather monitor so when it is an overcast day not all the lights come on, if it is sunny the lights are on full. This also ties the lights into the acual daylight hours. It also does thunder storms, complete with llightning flashes, thunder and wild water motion. Even has a little sprayer for simulating rain.
My question is, is this going a little far? Is there any benefit to having a system like this? The write u said it to almost a year for them to get everything working right. It is cool to watch, but is that all, just cool to watch. Shaun

I know it's easily possible with LEDs, not sure how hard it would be on other lights. I know halides it's not possible. Here's the link on Reef Builders I read a while ago on AI's LEDs and their new updated controller.

It's definitely going a bit far iin enthusiasm, but I'm sure the fish/corals don't care. I think it's more for the owner/keeper than for the livestock.

That is kind what I thought. I just wondered if it aided the corals or fish in any way. Really cool to watch, but a year of work just for a cool show? Shaun

I agree, very cool for the owner, but it really doesn't do anything positive for the corals or fish.

I won't knock it though...it's definitely a cool 'geeky' addition to the hobby. I'm sure it'd be an awesome thing to see.
