So, my last two nights have been filled with animals. Last night, we had just gotten done eating and were about to leave to see a poor little dog standing along in front of a closed business. She still had her harness on but it was twisted and causing her discomfort. Called the non emergency police line, they were going to send a car out to us. About 30 minutes later, we get a call back asking if she answers to 'Chloe'. Sure enough, she perked up right away and cuddled with me. Person on the phone said the owner had reported her missing but he lived in CR and now he's on his way down. Turns out, a co worker came to the business and let the poor little thing in and got her warm and took off the harness. A couple of our friends stayed with but it was already past midnight and I had to be to work at 6am.
Get to work at 6am and tell my friend the story of the night before only to have him surprised. He had seen that exact same dog just past midnight. I guess the owner was concerned for her and took her into the emergency clinic. Told him 'I don't care how much it costs, do whatever you need to to make sure she is ok'. They ended up taking xrays and doing minimal bloodwork to make sure she hadn't been hit by a car or wasn't going into shock. All checked out well so she went home with some pain meds for her sore shoulder from the harness. Small world!
THEN... tonight we just got home from helping out our uncle and Brian happened to glance over and saw a guinea pig. You know, like the little multi colored rodent that you got when you were a kid? Yeah, definitely something that should not be outside, especially in this weather. Well, knowing me, I wasn't about to let the little guy freeze so we caught him. So.. now I have a stray guinea pig in my bathroom munching on some grass and timothy hay.
Talk about craziness! I'm just glad we saw the poor little guys before anything bad happened to either of them /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

Good call on the found animals. You have a good heart. We've had two strays in the past three weeks. The dog found on our front porch found it's old home and the cat found it's new home (ours). It's been de -fleaed, fed ,watered and generally pampered by my three girls. A trip to the vet in a week for shots, chipping and neutering(YIKES!!!). Just another animal for the zoo we have now.

There is no way I could let them go on their own. Poor little guys. We've domesticated them to being almost unable to survive on their own so we should have to ensure their safety in my opinion. Plus being a prospective vet student probably makes me a little biased but oh well /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

I think I know that guinea pig! I saw that his buddies were driving around the neighborhood looking for him.

You know the dog on Frazier got $10,000.00 an episode.... wonder what the guinea pigs get?
