Out first shipments of livestock was sent out Monday from two different suppliers.
11 cases came from Quality Marine.  3 cases from Route 66.
Tuesday came around and the 11 cases from Quality Marine showed up, the 3 cases from Rt66 was stuck in Indianapolis.  Supposedly due to weather, but both shipments arrived from LA on the same plane at 2:20 AM, and the 11 cases left Indy at 6am.
So the three cases from Rt 66 had the rare expensive fish including the $1000 Lunardi Wrasse.  Of course there is no live stock guarantee when you are ordering from wholesalers, so the fish were mine, alive or dead.  And no recourse on Fed Ex as they were claiming weather.
I even offered to drive to Des Moines or Chicago to pick them up, but their only option was to ship as ordered.
I did explain the rarity of the fish, so they said they went & found the packages & put them in a heated area for me.  I was thankful for that.
Today the other three cases showed up.  Adam picked them up & slowly acclimated them using minimal light.
Luckily we only have had one death out of the three cases, a nice pygmy angel.
The rest of the fish look awesome, and we cannot tell that they spent an extra day in shipping.
I wont lie to you, I didnt get much sleep last night worrying about them.

Wow...glad things came in safe. It really sucks that you don't have any recourse in a situation like that. I wonder if livestock death due to weather delay would have been covered by shipping insurance?

I saw on another forum someone had some pricey freshwater stingrays get stuck in Indianapolis and they arrived to him frozen. Good thing you called to make sure it got placed in a warm area!!

Ya I will give them credit for that.

I am amazed at how everything came out.

The Lunardi wrasse was actually packed with sand for it to burrow in. It looks the best out of all of them, must of made a difference.

In time, as soon as I put it in the tank it dove for the sand...

So will the Lunardi be in a display tank at the store or going up for sale?

You've got balls ordering during the holidays man. I've seen more than my share of lost or bumped shipments around X-Mas time. Glad it worked out. Merry X-Mas!!
