    Good morning,

Before I glue anything, I was wondering if I could get some input on this sump design.

It's a 20L tank. 1/4" baffles cut to size. Spaces left to right are 9", 1.5", 1.5", 11", and 6". Skimmer, live rock/sand/chaeto, return pump. Does that look good? Wondering if I need another bubble trap buffle on the right or if this should work.

The overall design looks good and straightforward. Just make sure you have enough room for the equipment you are using. Skimmer, heaters, return. Also make sure you have adequate volume in the return area for evaporation. ATO is a great investment if you don't have one already.

How much room do you have between your baffles? You might be able to tighten them up a bit and get a little extra room.

About 1.5" between them. I'm wondering how the heck I'm going to glue them as close as that. Gonna be interesting.

put the center baffle of your three in first silicone both sides.. then for the two outsides, mark where you want them with a sharpie on the outside of glass makiing a full vertical line follow the line with a nice thick bead of silicone on the inside of the tank then slide your outside baffles horizontally into the silicone until lined up with your marks...silicone the outsides and your done

I siliconed both sides of first baffle and both sides of next. Then only one side of next two. I did get as far down on opposite sides of last two as I could. Remember only one side really needs siliconed. As long as you are sealed on one side well it should be good. I just finish my 40b sump for my 220 setup and thats the way i did it. my 75 setups sump is made this way and it works great.

I used cd cases doubled up or stacked to use for 1" space between baffles.

Thanks for input. Jewel case idea is awesome. I was raiding our pantry for boxes and accidentally grabbed some granola bar box. My wife wanted one later and I told her she couldn't touch it for a few hours. She also wasn't pleased when I used a couple canned goods to prop up egg crate while I was painting it black. Now they are mystery cans of something. Oops.
