Thinking about getting a 65. Can anyone local help me build a sump? I have no idea how to do it. The stand is standard 36" long.

would a 20 long work? or should it be bigger? just need a section for skimmer, someplace to attach a filter bag and a section for the return pump. adding baffles just baffles me. I don't really care if there is a section for refugium but it would be nice if there was space.

whoever helps will be fed Korean BBQ :)

I use a 29g behind my 65 (i actually use it to grow a mangrove since it's not in the stand) but if you want a sump built you could talk to Bud for something fancy. Or were you wanting DIY?

As seen on another thread, Petco is having their doller per gallon sale on glass tanks up to 55 gallons. Sale runs to Nov 7 so if you're thinking DIY I would recommend going to pick a tank up ;)

As for what size tank/sump, measure the inside dimensions of your stand and then see what the largest tank you can get to fit. That's atleast a start for you.

Thanks for all the responses. I would need room for makeup water in the stand.
Chris, you have yours behind the tank?

Correct. I wanted the 29 as the sump and it wouldn't fit in the stand.

When you're free some time, feel free to stop by if you want to see the setup. It's simple but i like it.

I would use a 20 long. 29 gallon tanks are to tall to service. 30 longs are even better but you need more than 36 inches to use underneath

I run a 20 long under my 40 breeder. Figure out where you want baffles measure and call glass shop. They can get you some baffles for you.

Or maybe contact Bud. He could do some acrylic ones or know where to find them.
