Well I went back to visit my family in Des Moines on Saturday morning and when I got back to North Liberty on Sunday night I realized our power had gone out.  I was immediately worried and ran downstairs to check my aquariums... and then became even more worried when I saw that my lights and pumps were off.
I eventually found out that my temporary frag tank setup had a small overflow when the power came back on and water got into a plug and tripped my breaker.  It looks like the tanks were without power for around 24 hours.  After getting the power restored I saw that my tank temp was 68.
So far it looks like the corals have been alright, however, I am very bummed that I lost my flame angel of 3 years (one of my first fish), my mandarin goby, my six line wrasse, and a firefish.
I'm not sure how long our power would have been out if it were able to come back on appropriately, but I am assuming it wouldn't have been long enough to have been fatal.  So I'm now kicking myself for having an extension cord laying on the floor right next to my frag tank. [IMG]
On a positive note, my six line was an absolute terror and harassed any new fish in the tank.  So I will finally be able to get the flasher wrasse I've wanted!

Sorry to hear about your loss. I think that's one of everyone's greatest fears around here. Glad I'm getting a controller soon that'll warn me when things like that happen. Good luck getting your new wrasse /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

Heh, I have an apex as well. But it can't send out the warning email when the power is out.. it will let you know when it comes back on. I can check online or on my phone to see the status of the aquarium as well and had noticed that it wasn't loading correctly. But that still didn't do much to alert me that there was a problem - sometimes your Apex will just stop responding through the network and you have to manually reset it.

It does suck your fish died, but look on the bright side; at least you didn't come home to a burned down house! That's what I would be most thankful for.

    Sorry for your losses.
I haven't experienced power outages like others in N. Liberty (Sunday was the first since last summer).
Power went off around 10:15 and was back on @ 10:55.
