Almost bought another tank a couple of weeks ago but since the incident with the Biocube (heater stuck and killed much of my corals) my wife put her foot down and said no. So I sold some of my other big boy toys and purchased a 90g tank today and will pick it up tomorrow. Still have the biocube and it's almost back to it's former glory. This will just be a new tank with a focus on fish, softies, and other easy to keep corals.

    It will include:

    • 90g Reef Ready Aqueon Aquarium
    • Cherry modern stand
    • Reefmaster Pro 100 Refugium with LED lighting
    • Octopus Skimmer
    • Marineland Pro Light
    • 40lbs of Live Rock (will be adding about 60lbs of dry rock I have)

Can't wait to get it and get it set up again! I'll post pictures once I get it home and running.

Wow, been a long wait to get back home and play with my new toy. I was traveling for work so I had my live rock set up in a make shift aquarium with a filter, pumps, heater, and a light.

The previous owner really let this beauty go but that's my gain. Got all the bad algae scrubbed off the live rock, sand replaced with live sand, and it's set back up and running. Hopefully it will clear up tomorrow and I can get some pics.

Did you get anything to safeguard against another stuck heater? Sounds like a good excuse to purchase a controller.

Finally Here's some pics of the new tan

Here's the tank when I picked it up. The previous owner let it go. Look at all the algae build up! Believe it or not she had 2 Percula Clownfish and 1 Pink Spot Goby that lived through this mess and they lived through the transfer as well.

Here's the tank after I set it back up. Wish I could have got the overflow cleaned up better but in 6 months it will be covered with coralline algae again so why bother.

Here's the refugium with the phosphate reactor attached. I'm currently running Phosban and Purigen.

I'm gong to be adding another few pieces of Figi live rock this weekend and have ordered a auto top off system and a controller for the heater.

Came home tonight to a big time brown algae bloom with some hair algae starting to grow. Hooked up the phosphate reactor and checked my magnesium levels and added some. Looks like it's going through a mini cycle. Should be fine in a couple of weeks.

The next thing you should invest in is a new algae magnet. Get the Algae Free Magnet cleaner - either the piranha or hammerhead and add the Easyblade algae scraper to it. You will love it and never regret it. Remind me and I will show you mine.

+1 to that, even a mag-float & easy blade works awesome. I have 3 if that tells you anything.

I have 3 of them now. 2 came with the tank and I had one from the old tank. Now I just need to let the phosphate reactor do it's job for a couple of weeks.
