My tang has a cottony piece of something on his gill. Just noticed it last night and not sure if this is a parasite (fluke?) or due to stress. It is a new fish and was the 1st to go into my 75. It came from an established tank and I didn't notice anything when I first put it in. I am not a fish person so diseases are not my specialty so any thoughts would be appreciated! I can't get a pic since he keeps moving.....

    Thanks!

Are you able to get a pic of it?

It sounds like it might be some type of fungal infection

I to would guess fungal. Melafix would be the way to go if that's the case.

That means I would have to take it out to treat?

I feed hex shield and ich shield to my tank everyday. Its pellet food for internal parasites and ich idk if it will work for you but it seems to make my fish happy

Melafix is reef safe if I remember correctly. But will overflow skimmer.
