I have a 3 inch powder blue tang that has been in my 120 for 2 months. I bought an Achilles tang that is slightly larger e couple days ago. They are fighting like school kids. The powder seems to be winning by the looks of the scratches and torn fins on the achilles. Will this subside once one establishes dominancy or will it continue until one dies?

so now what? let my achilles get killed? I can't catch either of them and have tried all day. I have my trap set and no luck. Neither will go in or stop chasing one another long enough to catch in it.

Drop some mirrors in to confuse them, also tape some pictures of each fish on the outside of the tank

    Good luck

I have a powder blue and an achilles in a similar sized tank. I put a piece of the plastic grid- the type for 2'x4' lights in as a barrier. They could see each other, but not touch each other. I left that in place for almost 2 weeks. When i took the plastic out, the tangs did chase each other around; but NO WHERE near what it was like before hand. They just need to realize that they can't chase this other fish off of the reef like in the wild - there is no where for it to go. They will simmer down after a week or so after the barrier has been removed. I will have to dig up a pic. Also, watch Jon Copolino's talk from springfest- even though it is about angels, apply the introduction of like fish into an aquarium. It works!

things seem a lot better today. i tried to trap and no luck. i placed about 20 picturs of both powded blue and achilles around the tank with tape. i changed some rockwork in the display and am hoping for the best. my only real fear is that i don't see the achilles eating. the powder eats any and all things i place in the tank. i haven't seen the achilles eat. i will feed some ton and soaked pieces of red nori tonight and watch close after the moon lights are on to confirm and post an update tomorrow.

thanks for all the comments and repsonses
