I searched back through this forum and the last discussion I see on tank temp is from 2012 so I am curious what temps everyone keeps their tank(s) at. With my Apex I am able to keep the temp within a constant range at 79.0 to 79.5. I realize that keeping the temp constant is prob more important than plus or minus a few degrees from where I am at but with the accumulated experience on this forum I am curious to know if having it warmer or colder promotes more coral growth, does it differ with LPS vs SPS, or any other related observations.

I also keep mine at 79. It might raise a half a degree in the summer.

Have 400w halides and my temp swings from 78-82 and it affects absolutely nothing negatively.

I seem to recall hearing that mid to low 70s is best, can't recall where I heard that or what the rationale was. I set mine for 75

77.4. But it swings from 77 to 78.

I think the only difference is metabolism rates go up in warmer water and slower in colder water.

I keep my tanks between 76 and 77. I thought cooler temps helped control algae.

I keep mine between 79.0 and 79.6. Rare variation in the summer if I don't get the A/C on but my 8 year old boxer tends to make me remember.

That's a wider range of temps than I expected especially the lower end. This leads me to believe the actual temp isn't nearly as important as keeping it fairly constant but even at that a few people have +-4 deg swings.

78 goes to maybe 80 in the summer. I recall reading a thread like this on reef central a couple years ago and temps were all over the board but a surprising amount kept temps low...75 or so

My tanks are at 75.5° this morning. One has metal halide with supplemental LEDs and my 120 has all LED. I do not use a chiller in either tank, in the 29 nano with the halide I use a computer fan in the summer to keep it cool and it is regulated with my apex. I do have an increase in temperature in the summer but I have not had a problem with it. I think the key is that the temperature goes up and down slowly so nothing is negatively effected.
