I've noticed that they put a lot of things together that maybe shouldn't. Most commonly different types of clowns I see in several tanks.

How often do you think they have to go back and take things out after the show

They come up with some cool designs but it's so unrealistic. Makes you wonder if they know what they are doing other than the construction part. I like Fish Tank Kings much better.

there is a aquarium maintnence company on contract at each location that handles the fish, aclimates them, and after the initial reveal they pull the uncompatable fish out of the displays, and keep up maintnence on the tank for at least 1 year

There was an article where they put one together in an Applebee's in mew York. They made it look like the jersey shore boardwalk with a big Ferris wheel or something. They added some lockdowns black tip and white tip shark. During the unveiling, the black tip decidd to make ameal put of the look downs and the white tip freaked put, rammed into the Ferris wheel and killed itself.

yeah that article sure had some dramatic spin in it, but the author didnt really know what she was talking about, The Blacktip was on loan from a local public aquarium, none of the fish were rushed in from the ocean, and the white tip was actually a horned shark.

The show is dumb, I can't watch it anymore. The only cool part is when they go pick out fish and show the tank at the end. The stupid fake jokes of them making fun of each other the entire show is awful

I get more excited seein the tanks they have in their offices and all that acrylic in the shop. Tanks they build are way too cheesey. And the acting is terrible

I"m pretty much with you guys, I liked the show for the first season or two but the over the top fake drama and jokes just made the show not very attractive anymore. They put more emphasis on the joking around than the actual design and processes that go into designing and installing aquariums and I just had enough. I haven't even watched this season. FYI many of those tanks are put together for TV not for longevity. But hey don't blame the actors their not actors their business men who have built a very large and successful company from the ground up so they know what they are doing, it's just that the network makes them look like bunch of idiot rednecks.

It still bothers me that people are seeing these tanks crammed with 20 tangs and think it's fine.

If they are large tanks then 20 tangs are perfect. These guys have been doing this a long time people so they do have an idea how to stock a tank. Not saying every tank they build is perfectly stocked, but Customers get what they want. They are running an industry leading business.
I do like Fish Tank Kings better, because they do focus on husbandry more having 2 biologist in staff.

Its filmed, scripted, and edited for entertainment, and that is all. We are definitely NOT the target audience. The show would not do well being about the actual set-up, or the equipment that it takes to run a tank so they don't show that part of it. I don't know why people just don't get over that fact and quit discussing it every year. Yes they do stupid things. I'm sure there are thousands of people in this hobby that do far worse husbandry wise than these guys. But they do what the customer wants, and rake in money doing it.
The show is what it is. It is obviously not going to get changed to be geared toward the hobbyist. If you do not like it then do not watch it.

I spent a lot of time with Brett Raymer at MACNA and, still keep in touch, we talked with uite a few people at length about this. Like everyone has said it's ALL about ratings and animal planet is in total control of shooting and editing. Bottomline is the guys are great and know what they are doing and have been doing very well alor a lot longer than most of us! They have made a big impact in Iowa both financially and with getting the word out about programs like Central Campus and such.
