This months meet: Poll

What do you guys want to do this month? We have listed a plumbing seminar which we can totally do that, but otherwise we could do a talk on sand bed biology, natural filters scrubbers/refugia.
The upshot, is that we might have an actual plumbing project to help with by next months meet.

A natural filter discussion will detail many specifics about nutrient export, and biodiversity in the reef aquaria. Including efficacy of natural filters, and differences between sand bed types, their composition, and the many benefits of both.

 

I used to really be into natural filters and really engaged in finding information and literature about turf scrubbers, deep sand beds, refugiums, and microculture. That was way back whenever John Tullock's book "Natural Reef Aquariums" came out, I thought for sure it would be the next big craze in the reef world. But guys on RC never seemed to particularly jump on board with natural techniques, and many failed to see the value in it. Fast forward to now, at least locally in our group we are having a natural filter renissance, and I think ever more people are finding the pragmatic values of things like biodiversity and turf scrubbers. Strange how these things evolve.

 

I'm thinking the 19th, 26th, or 27th. Any preferences? Anybody wanna volenteer their home for a meet? ;-)

 

Sorry guys, my brothers in rehab and my dad just showed up (haven't seen or talked to him in 3 years). Umm Yeah Brandon, I'll shoot him an email. Maybe we'll talk about the 2 or 3rd of June if next weekend doesn't work for our host. Worse come to worse we'll go to the NLCC.
